Penina Championship Golf Course

Penina Championship Golf Course, officially known as the Sir Henry Cotton Championship Course, is an iconic 18-hole, par-73 golf course in the Algarve. Designed and completed by three-time British Open Champion Sir Henry Cotton in 1966, it was the first 18-hole golf course built in the Algarve.

The course combines mature eucalyptus and pine trees with streams, ditches, lakes and strategically positioned hazards. Its elevated greens, subtle slopes and varied playing conditions require accurate shot-making and thoughtful course management throughout the round.

Penina has also hosted the Portuguese Open on numerous occasions, adding to its long-standing place in Algarve golfing history.

Set within the beautiful Penina Hotel & Golf Resort near Portimão, the Championship Course provides a distinctive combination of classic golf design, natural scenery and a memorable Algarve setting.
